In Japanese, 捕る (toru, pronounced Toh-Roo) means to catch — a fish from the river, a moment from the air, an idea before it's gone.
That's the whole product, condensed into two syllables. Press a button and say what's on your mind. Toru catches the messy thought, gives it structure, and keeps it somewhere you can actually come back to. No formatting. No organising first.

Toru didn’t start as a market opportunity. Sync runs through your own iCloud, not through Pembroke Labs. Drafts stay on the device they were made on.

· Privacy
Speech is transcribed by Apple's speech recognition in iOS, which may process audio on your device or on Apple's servers. Notes are sent securely for structuring, never used for training, and deleted by our processing provider within 30 days. iCloud backup gives you full control. Toru also learns from the way you use it, so names and terms come out spelled your way.
